J Fishwick and Sons bus company went into Administration this weekend. This is very sad news for the local area as Fishwick's have operated a commercial local bus services in and around Preston, Leyland and Chorley since 1907.

South Ribble residents are invited to have their say about proposals to extend Leyland’s Worden Park as part of a new housing developmentDevelopers and landowners have submitted a vision in the form of a masterplan for around 500 homes and public amenities to South Ribble Borough Council’s Planning Committee, which agreed to invite the community to air its views on the proposals for land which borders the park, Altcar Lane and Leyland Lane.Developers Redrow Homes and landowners the Homes and Communities Agency have worked with the council to set out aspirations for the site, which include a mix of quality homes and features, including green spaces and two ponds, as well as the extension to Worden Park.

The Rt. Hon. Chris Grayling MP, Leader of the House of Commons, Member of Parliament for Epsom and Ewell and the former Lord Chancellor is coming to South Ribble for a fantastic dinner event. He's a leading member of the parliamentary party and cabinet member throughout the coalition government, Mr Grayling came to South Ribble during the general election to help Seema's campaign.

The annual dinner will take place at Mere Brow Village Hall (The Gravel, Mere Brow, Preston, PR4 6JX) on Saturday 5th December, 7pm for 7.30pm.

Economic boost for South Ribble

Adoption of a landmark plan has been heralded as a huge boost for the economic growth of South Ribble.Members of South Ribble Borough Council agreed to adopt a Local Plan for the area, which sets out a strong vision to enhance the borough as a place to live and do business over the next decade. Following extensive consultations and legal processes, the plan was officially agreed at Wednesday’s full council meeting.The Local Plan will guide future housing developments, business and commercial locations, transport infrastructure and education facilities, which will lead to significant investment in community facilities and urban centres. Its adoption further strengthens the Preston, South Ribble and Lancashire City Deal, with many of the projects identified within it underpinned by the plan.
