Village parades at risk

Association Chairman Councillor Malcolm Barron has tabled a motion to the next full meeting of Lancashire County Council following complaints that police may no longer support community parades.

Cheaper Calls to the County Council

Lancashire County Council has moved closer to replacing its current 0845 numbers with 0300 numbers, which will make it cheaper to contact the council by phone. The new numbers will be introduced on Thursday 27th March and will cost the same to call as geographic numbers starting 01 or 02.  To many customers, they will be free of charge as part of their telephone packages.

Leader welcomes latest railway station improvements

THE latest developments at Leyland Railway Station have been heralded as a significant step.South Ribble Borough Council Leader, Councillor Margaret Smith, who has campaigned for improvements to the station for many years, said ongoing work to create a new ticket office is an essential part of making the station fit for the 21st Century. Network Rail say the new ticket office is expected to be completed in February.

SRCA Fundraiser – Pampered Chef

A thank you to the 30 or more members who attended SRCA’s first fund raising effort of 2014, a 'Pampered Chef' event.The midweek lunch time gathering that took place in ‘Val’s Kitchen’ and raised over £200 for the Association, many thanks to all those who took part and enjoyed this hugely successful occasion.
